7 Golds & 1 Silver for Canterbury
The Canterbury Junior Squash teams won seven Golds and one Silver of the eight medals available at the recent South Island Junior Age Groups teams event held at the Christchurch Squash Club, 17th & 18th September.
They also won the overall trophy for best performed district for the first time, beating the other three districts, Southland, Otago and Midlands.
Junior Convenor Paul Growcott said these results were due to the selectors being able to select the best players that made themselves available. In past years, only players that attended Canterbury squads were selected. He is excited with the future of Squash in Canterbury as the younger ages groups performed very well, with even the under 11 boys team finishing second in the under 13.
The next tournament for a number of these players is the New Zealand National Age Groups in Hamilton 29th September to 2nd October.
