In the Women’s final Emma Cormack had a close encounter with runner up Ruby Beresford, eventually winning in deciding fashion 15/5 in the fourth. This followed on from last weekend, where Emma was runner up to Nikki Kennedy in the Canterbury Open. Emma’s future is looking very bright, as a young 17-year-old.  Final scores 15/12 12/15, 15/10, 15/5.


Results from the Canterbury Under 23’s 

Chris Van Der Salm made it two Canterbury titles in two weeks. Last week, Chris beat team mate Oliver Johnstone to take the Canterbury Open title; this weekend he won the Canterbury Under 23 title defeating another team mate Jackson Beresford in three sets 11/7,11/6 and 12/10.

Jackson Beresford had a hard road to the finals beating Charlie Barker in five sets then beating second seed Quinn Udy from Blenheim 16/14,12/10,7/11/1/11,12/10 in an extremely close match.

Other notably matches, Dominic Wren beat fourth seed Joe Williams, then second seed Udy winning 9/11.8/11.11/6.11/6, 11/9 in the Special Plate. Joe Williams beat Charlie Barker 9/11,12/10,11/3.21/19 in the Plate final

Next week the men’s Senior team, of Chris Van Der Salm, Olliver Johstone, Jonny Barnett, Jayden Millard, Jackson Beresford and Joe Williams are hoping to defend their inter district title at the NZ Nationals in Auckland. They won for the very first time last year beating Wellington.
