All three finalists played against each other in tournaments and interclub throughout the season and were team-mates in the Canterbury Team at the NZ Senior Teams Event held in Christchurch.
They are all tall, fit, competitive and play a hard-hitting aggressive type of squash.
Oliver was the proven winner on the day; in fact, according to iSquash his only losses this year are to players ranked #1, #3 and #5 on the NZ grading list - they have 4500, 4600 and 4800 points each!
Oliver won all the local tournaments he entered; Squashways, Football, Burnside, and Christchurch. He also won the Canterbury Open two tournaments in Dunedin. At the National Teams event he defeated Ben Grindrod, recently a touring professional, while playing in the number 1 spot for Canterbury.
