Congratulations to our juniors who won 4 Team Golds and secured the Overall Trophy.
The South Island Squash Junior Age Group Teams Event was held in Dunedin 25th – 26th August. Canterbury was represented in 3 age groups U17, U15 & U13 in the boys and 2 age groups U17 and U15 in the girls.
There was some high-quality squash played particularly from Canterbury where they dominated the competition coming away with 4 team golds and the overall winners of the Teams event and were awarded the trophy! This was an outstanding result and well deserved by all.
It was so great to see all the friendships and comradery between the players on and off the courts. These experiences play a crucial role in keeping the kids interested in the sport we all love.
A big thanks to Aynsley Munroand the Otago Squash Club for running such a well organised and fun event and a MASSIVE BIG THANKYOU to the managers – Rachel Hebberd, Jo Clark, Helen Curd-McCullough, Ian Pattinson & Bronwyn Knutson, this event wouldn’t have happened with you. We really appreciate you giving up your time and the energy you have put in to make this event happen.
Some more great news is that Helen Curd-McCullough has agreed to be the convenor for 2019 SIAG Teams Event, which will be taking place in Timaru. This is awesome news, Helen will work with Squash Canterbury and the selectors to try and field a full quota of teams for next year.
