Interclub

Junior Refereeing and Rules night

refereeing night 1_opt

On the first week of the Christchurch Winter Interclub, the Junior Combined players put their referring skills to the test at a Rules & Referring session.

Having the confidence to ref and mark your team mate’s takes time and effort.  The feedback from the Autumn Interclub competition was that the juniors needed an on-court session to demonstrate the difference between a No Let, Let & Stroke.

Emma Cormack offered to put together a Quiz to help understand the basic squash rules and calls. The Juniors were put into teams to complete the Quiz and lots of discussion around answers was enjoyed.

The on-court demonstration was delivered by Emma and Petra Curd-McCullough and successfully engaged and educated our juniors and even some parents.

Thank you to all the parents who made the effort to bring their children to this session, it is a very important aspect of our wonderful game and often overlooked with our developing players.

Thank you to Emma and Petra for their superb efforts and our Juniors for their willingness to understand the rules better.
