Junior 2100 Tournament Sunday 29th April 2018

On Sunday 29th April our 1st 2100 Junior Tournament was held at Christchurch Football Squash Club.  We had players with points range of 100 – 2090 entered, which allowed for 4 even divisions to be created with two divisions playing in the morning and two in the afternoon.

Rocky and Kirsty from Christchurch Football kept all players busy if they were not playing they were referring or marking a game.  Games all ran to time with a very high standard of squash on display.  There were many close games, Jimmy Stewart may have been a little sore and tired after he played 3 very close games all of which went to 5 sets.  Great value for money from your entry fee Jimmy!

This tournament has continued to grow in popularity over the last few years from a half day event to a full day of squash.  A great opportunity for juniors who have been involved in club training programmes to experience a competitive game of squash before they commit to an interclub team.  The eligibility criteria has changed this year to allow players up to a points cap of 2100 to enter.  This is a wonderful opportunity for our beginner players to see the results that can be achieved by hard work and commitment to the sport.  It would be excellent to see some of our strong girl juniors entering our next tournament as role models for our beginner level girl juniors.

The next tournament in the Series is on Sunday 27th of May at Christchurch Squash Club, juniors do enter quick as we can see this tournament reaching capacity well before the closing date.  A coffee cart will be onsite at Christchurch so grab a coffee and come down and watch some great Junior Squash, if you have not watched a Junior game in a while I think you will be very impressed with the standard of play of our Juniors.
