Women’s Winter Interclub 2019

 Competition Formats Women's - Winter 2019(190K)

The aim of the Women’s Autumn Interclub is to provide a framework for all female players of all abilities and ages to play competitive squash for their club. The division title winners will be presented with a trophy at the finals.

There are 26 teams in the Women’s competition spread over 3 divisions. All games take place 7pm on a Tuesday evening. Please make sure that all players are ready to go on court at 6.45pm and that games start promptly.

Division 1 & 2:

Format: 8 teams. Will play a round robin tournament over 7 weeks, which starts Tuesday 23^rd July and the last week will be Tuesday 2^nd September. The round robin tournament will be followed by semi-finals on Tuesday 10^th September and finals Tuesday 17^th September

Fixtures: the drawcan be found on iSquash

Venues: Games will be played at central venues. Please note, that Christchurch Squash Club now play at their new courts at 50 Colombo Street.

Supper: *The first team listed will be responsible for providing supper. Following the finals there will be a shared supper and everyone will be responsible for bringing a plate. Please note, *when a whole division is playing at Christchurch Squash Club, each player must pay $5 towards supper provided by the Cashmere Club. Payment is made at the bar, ideally all at once by the team captain. You are unable to bring your own food onto the premise, as it does not meet the food license requirements for the Cashmere club, that runs the bar and kitchen.

Competition Ball: Single dot. The first listed team will be responsible for suppling the ball

Semi-finals:will be derived from the final standings after the round robin;

• Game a – 1 v 4
• Game b – 2 v 3
• Game c - 6 v 7
• Game d – 5 v 8

Finals:will be derived from the semi-final;

• Winners of Game a & b will play for the Division Title
• Losers of Game a & b will play for 3^rd & 4^th place
• Winner of Game c & d will play for 5^th & 6^th place
• The loser of Game c & d will play for 7^th & 8^th place. 

Division 3:

Format: 10 teams. Will play a round robin tournament over 9 weeks, which starts Tuesday 23^rd July and the last week will be Tuesday 17th September. The round robin tournament will be followed by finals Tuesday 24th September.

General:

Rules: Click here for a copy of the Interclub rules. A couple of key things to note:

Refereeing: All interclub players must have completed the Squash NZ club's online referee exam within the last two years. The online course is valid for two seasons’ - the season you sit the exam and the following season.  The online course is available here.

Start Times: All team members must assemble 15 minutes before the appointed starting time. Subject to prior agreement with the captain of the opposing team, one member may arrive up to half an hour late.  A team member not ready to play (i.e. changed and ready to go on court) at the starting time or immediately upon conclusion of the preceding rubber may be defaulted at the request of the opposing team. 

Struggling for a team and defaults: if you are struggling for a team, Squash Canterbury encourages you to consider changing the fixture time or day to suit.Any team defaulting shall be fined $50. It is the responsibility of the team defaulting to inform Squash Canterbury within 24 hours of the scheduled fixture, of the reason why their team defaulted. If a team wishes to appeal their fine for defaulting, it must be lodged in writing with Squash Canterbury no later than 10pm of the day following the contest. In an exceptional circumstance, teams may apply for an exemption in advance. Exemptions must be lodged in writing with Squash Canterbury 24 hours prior to their scheduled fixture.
