Another great night out to watch some squash finals. Thanks to Jo, Sheree and Claire from Christchurch Squash Club for coming down and getting the fire going along with organising the supper for the teams. It was great to see everyone having supper together and socialising. Thanks to Paul Monk from Squash Canterbury board for coming down to present the awards, greatly appreciated. The consensus from comments heard over the evening was the juniors are improving across the board and moving up in the ranks. Division 2 players mentioned they had been getting great games through the season as the whole division seemed to be even. Div. 3 and 4, with playing each other often you got to know each other, and it made for a good night each week as well as good games. Jess Wilson, Interclub Committee Member
With the Kathy Hargraves trophy up for grabs, both teams came with their game faces on and the competition was fierce. Kelly and Penny started the show with a fast, hard hitting game, which got the ball warmed up quickly, Kelly came out the victor in 3 sets. Judith and Cheree were up next, and wow what a game, Cheree never gave up and ran for everything, it was great to watch, however Judith’s eye was in tonight and seemed like she cut off the shots at the right time and winning in 4. Nicky and Sarah took to the court for another great match up, every rally went back and forth with Nicky coming out on top in 3. The match of the evening goes to Kate and Grace, five setter for the number ones, with Kate being the winner. I think all that watched this match learnt a few tricks and were in awe of these two ladies, it was a fitting finale for the night. Well done to Burnside to your 12/3 win and obtaining the Kathy Hargraves shield and “taking it home”.
Burnside 1
Sue Wasley, Paula Kenny, Nicky Dunlop, Kelly Sullivan, Kate Fox & Judith Smith
This was a tightly contested match, between two teams that know each other well.
Sally and Heather fought it out and set the scene for the evening, with a 4 setter and Sally edging ahead of Heather for the win. Charmaine and Emma had a great game with Emma coming out on top with a 3-nil win. Devon and Jill had a battle, there was a fair amount of running along with some nice drops thrown in for good measure, with Devon getting there in the end in 3 sets. Helen and Paula again had a great battle with Helen being victorious in 3.
Well done to Football on their 9/4 win. It was a pleasure to watch your games and the friendship between the two teams, which was evident with the support crews that turned up as well.

Due to illnesses and injuries – both Oxford teams were not able to play in the finals. Burnside 6 team came down and had a friendly hit between themselves which was great. They also got to see and support the 3rd & 4th playoff.
Burnside 6 - Kate Salisbury, Amy Clarke, Teresa Thomson
