Squash Canterbury Awards

Most Improved Player

Squash Canterbury annually recognizes four players in the following categories;

  • The Roger Allred Trophy for Most Improved Junior Boy
  • Most Improved Junior Girl
  • Most Improved Senior Female 
  • Most Improved Senior Male

The recipients are chosen by the Squash Canterbury Board and the winners are announced at the Squash Canterbury Annual Awards.

The award was introduced in 2017 and a list of the winners can be found below. The number in brackets is the number of points that the individuals have improved by on the NZ Squash Grading list, from 1st January - 31st October in the given year.


  • The Roger Allred Trophy for Most Improved Junior Boy

2019 Most Improved Junior Boy - 1st – Benedict Lim, Rangiora (1295), 2nd - Runner-up –Joshua Schluter, Burnside (1065)  & 3rd - Addison Po, Burnside (970)

2018 - 1st Matthew McComish, Burnside (1165), 2nd Jimmy Stewart, Football (1080) & 3rd Oscar Cunningham, Football (985)

2017 - 1st Ollie O'Loughlin, 2nd Ryan Ko & 3rd Jack Lamb


  • Most Improved Junior Girl

2018 - 1st Kayla Harvey, Takaka (780), 2nd Caitlin Millard, Football (635) & 3rd Jazmine Palmer-Bensemann (570)

2017 - 1st Petra Curd-McCullough, 2nd Caitlin Millard & 3rd Nadia Karati


  • Most Improved Senior Male

2019 Most Improved Senior Male - 1st – Hayden Hall, Burnside (1295), 2nd – Nick Bewley, Burnside (1000) & 3rd – Mak Sarwar, Christchurch (680)

2018 - 1st Qazi Rooh-ul-Amin, Burnside (895), 2nd Connor McFadzien, Burnside (675) & 3rd Ben Gully, Greymouth (605)

2017 - 1st Cameron Tarbotton, 2nd Cameron Burgess & 3rd Joel Parris


  • Most Improved Woman

2018 - 1st Emma Brown, Burnside (735), 2nd Sarah Blair, Football (500) & 3rd Yi-Lin Yoong, Burside (450)

2017 - 1st Kayti Carrick, 2nd Alicia Rangi & 3rd Susie Cottrell
