Squash Canterbury Awards

2018 Women's Squash Player of the Year (The Turnbull Cup)

Squash-Cant-2018 Wms player of the yearFor this Award  we had one individual who had outstanding results during the whole year and our winner is Emma Cormack, Christchurch Football Squash Club

Emma has challenged her game by playing in Men’s Divisions rather than Women’s divisions in local tournaments.

She has also been a member of the Canterbury Senior Women’s Team and the Canterbury team for the SI Quads.

She is ranked the number one woman at the Christchurch Football Squash Club and is also the Women’s Club Captain.

She has won the Burnside Open, Canterbury Open and Canterbury Under 23

She is currently studying at University and in her spare time she has also managed to give back to Squash in Canterbury by assisting at Christchurch Football Squash Club with coaching juniors every Wednesday all year and has also been involved with one-on-one coaching with members at the Football Squash Club.

Following on from last year she has completed Mod 8 Women in the coaching development framework.  She has run a coaching session with a class from Riccarton High School and also ran a referring quiz night with interclub juniors.

She has taken the role of Women’s Club Captain at Football this year.

Emma deserves the Award for her on Court performance but it is great to see her wider contribution to Squash.
