SeniorTeams Selection Policy for National and Quadrangular 2018 (64K)

The selectors will give due consideration to the objectives of the Squash Canterbury High Performance Programme. Selections will be made on a combination of the following criteria:

• Results in International, National, District and other major tournaments
• Ability to support each other in the team environment on and off court
• Appropriate level of fitness for the event
• Commitment, Effort, Conduct and Attitude towards the sport
• Confirmed availability for selection

 Selectors will give attention to results from the following events:

• Burnside Open @ Burnside Squash Club, 4 - 6 May 2018
• Kaikoura Open @ Kaikoura Quash Club, 11 – 13 May 2018
• Linwood Open @ Linwood Squash Club, 25 - 27 May 2018
• Cousins Shield/Mitchell Cup @ Herne Bay, 1-3 June 2018
• NZ International Classic PSA @ SquashGym Palmerston North, 7 – 10 June 2018
• Christchurch Open @ Christchurch Squash Club, 8 – 10 June 2018
• NZ Southern Open PSA @ Squash City 21-24 June 2018
• NZ Senior National Individuals @ Henderson Squash Club 15-17 June 2018
• Canterbury Open (Sat PSA) @ Christchurch Football Squash Club 13-15 July 2018

Residential qualifications – players must meet the residential requirement of Squash Canterbury. A player that permanently resides outside of the Canterbury region can only be considered for selection if that player is a professional player, or one of the following:

• Previously played for Canterbury and has specific Board approval
• Attending University, tertiary education or New Zealand training squads outside the Canterbury region
• Has exceptional circumstances and has been approved by the Board by 1^st June 2018.

Major Representative Events available for selection

 1.    South Island Quadrangular

Where:             Timaru

When:              27-29 July 2018

Format:            3 Senior Men and Women, 3 Junior Men and Women, 2 Masters Men and Women and 1 Manager

Selection Date: 9^th July 2018

Selected players are required to:

• Foster team spirit
• Wear uniform as supplied
• Stay in accommodation as supplied (no partners)
• Pay for own food for the weekend
• Contribute $50 towards costs

 Squash Canterbury will provide:

• Clothing in the form of uniform jacket (to be returned after the event) and playing shirt
• All entry fees
• Accommodation

 2.    NZ Senior Championships

Where:             Panmure Squash Club, Auckland

When:              31^st /2ns September 2018

Format:            5 Men and 5 Women with 2 Managers.

                        Non-Traveling Reserve per team may also be selected

Selection Date: 15th July 2018

Selected players are required to:

• Attend six weekly training sessions, prior to the Nationals
• Support fellow team members to the best of your ability
• Wear uniform as supplied
• Pay for own food for the weekend
• Contribute $200 towards costs

Squash Canterbury will provide:

• Clothing in the form of uniform jacket (to be returned after the event) and playing gear
• Entry fees to Teams Event
• Weekly training sessions as required
